While Karen has played in several garage bands over the years, unfortunately none of them enabled her to make her real mark on climate change. Instead she’s made a profound impact on people and communities around the country – without becoming a rock star.
She went from grass roots organizing with her early work at OPIRG, to a PhD in Zoology and then became the first female Mayor in Guelph. All of that (with the exception of the guitar playing) enabled her to become an urban connector helping communities and governments across the country fight climate change in practical and achievable ways.
Join us – and our Making Box partners – as we put the fun into climate change with our 2019 Royal City Climate Change Hero: Dr. Karen Farbridge.

Last year with our good friends at the Making Box we hosted the first ever Climate Change Edition of Royal City Heroes. Back then we celebrated Guelph’s own Nobel prize winner for climate change Dr. Barry Smit.
