Want to bike to work but don’t feel safe? Enjoy biking but don’t feel comfortable on busy roads? Intro to CanBike 3 is for you!
Biking surpasses driving when it comes to the environment, affordability, physical health, and mental health. We know commuting by bike is good for us— but many of us don’t feel safe on the road. That’s one of the most common reasons for not cycling.
Meanwhile, the pandemic has provided the opportunity for more people than ever to dust off their bikes and ride.
If you can’t imagine biking on Gordon or Edinburgh, this course can help. We will focus on improving cycling skills that enable you to make more informed decisions on where and when to ride. The group setting is also great for building confidence— you won’t be alone on the road!
Based on the national CanBike program this one-day cycling class for adults will build on the technical basics of riding and traffic dynamics to help you approach biking from a defensive riding approach. It includes a classroom session, skills development in a parking lot, and finally on-road riding.
Many of you will know this program as an integral part of the cycling curriculum offered by CELP, Headwaters, and TERRA environmental leadership programs for high school students in Guelph. Your instructor has been teaching CanBike programs for over 20 years to more than a thousand people including police officers, adults, high school students and children.
