eMERGE and the Federal Covid-19 Economic Stimulus Package

In a crisis eMERGE wants our governments to do the right thing. There will be a federal vote on an economic stimulus package today (March 24, 2020) in Ottawa. We want that decision to make our great-great-grandchildren proud. Here is our letter to MP Lloyd Longfield:

Hi Lloyd,

I can’t imagine how hard it is for you right now.

eMERGE applauds the work that the federal government is doing along with the non-partisan support from all sides of the floor.

You will be making important decisions today that we hope will make our great-great-grandchildren proud.

Now is the time to prioritize economic support to reduce the impact on workers, Indigenous communities, and enhance health and science sectors right now – not fossil fuel corporations.

While there is little positive to see in the crisis that is before us – it does provide us with the opportunity to use emergency funding to ramp up financial support in all aspects of fighting climate change including: energy efficiency, renewable energy, support for active, public and electrification of all aspects of the transportation sector.

I look forward to parliament’s decision today.

Stay safe
